pre-conference event / Top Ten Green Projects awards

Last night the AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Projects were celebrated at an event at the National Building Museum. Henry Siegel presented the projects, and all 10 of them were represented with some members of the design team... some had the full team and clients along. One thing that was really striking was the discussion of the human response to the projects; this aspect came up in every team's remarks. Peter Bohlin eloquently noted that every project is an opportunity to create something rich, beautiful, and meaningful that people can relate to, love, and care for over time. This crop of exemplars seems to suggest that more and more green buildings are illustrating a deeper, more holistic understanding of the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability.
